Spinach and Warfarin don’t mix
Warfarin is prescribed to people with an increased tendency for thrombosis or as prophylaxis in those individuals that have already formed a blood clot (thrombus), which required treatment. This can help prevent formation of future blood clots and help reduce the risk of embolism (migration of a thrombus to a spot where it blocks blood supply to a vital organ). As you can understand if you are using this medicine it’s of high importance that you use it. What you then can’t do is eat green vegetables like Spinach, Endive or Rorippa. These vegetables contain Vitamin K and Vitamin K will neutralize the medicine Warfarin.
Statins and Grapefruit
About ten years ago scientist discovered that Grapefruit juice had some nasty side effects: it can influence the healing process of medicines and it can stimulate the creation of negative side effects. This is caused by a toxic that blocks the break-off of medicines. This can result in a dangerous increase of medicines in our blood vanes and in our body. So it’s not only with the use of Statin and Grapefruit that is seriously dangerous but Grapefruit can influence many medicines.
